What is the best alternative for a soon invalid Westpac companion Amex credit card?

Hi,

Westpac are terminating their association with the paring of the Amex card with Visa / Mastercard at the beginning of April. Westpac have provisionally said that customers can still apply [seperately] for an Amercian Express card through the bank, it it will no longer be linked to either the Visa or Mastercard. What are the next best alternatives?

If by best you mean points earning capability, then a direct issue AMEX is likely to be your best bet.

If you want a MasterCard or Visa with an AMEX on the same account, Commonwealth Bank has your only option.
