I’m part of a group of guys who live together. We share a lot of our expenses and wondered whether one or more of us couldn’t sign up for some credit card offers. If bonuses were awarded however can I purchase reward flights for non-family. Can I transfer say reward points to another person? We run a business too. Could I get a business card, and then transfer points to non-family for a trip? Any thoughts welcome.

Yes most programs allow you to redeem award flights for another person (non-family is fine). Transferring points is a different matter. The most popular Qantas and Velocity allow family transfer and according to T&C, you are not allowed to misuse family transfer for non-family members.
I do not have a business credit card but I have heard that business credit cards are also linked to a person. Hence, I doubt you could use that as a way to bypass the personal card transfer restriction.
Simplistic me can think of a way: applying for a card that is used for shared or business use only. The points earned from this card would be shared. However, this doesn’t allow you to combine with your personal point balance.

Qantas only allows you to transfer your Qantas points to ‘family’ (maximum ot 600,000 points per year). Qantas’ definition of family is broad.
Qantas views a family member as one of the following:
- Husband/Wife
- Parent/Step-parent
- Domestic Partner/De Facto
- Child, including foster and step-child
- Brother/Sister
- Half Brother/Sister
- Grandparent
- Grandchild
- Son/Daughter-in-law
- Brother/Sister-in-law
- Father/Mother-in-law
- Uncle/Aunt
- Nephew/Niece
- First cousin
I think the best thing to do would be for each of you to sign up for your own cards (and get the big sign up bonuses) and take turns to pay the bills to earn points per $ spent.
