Is there a way to travel in Domestic US First Class on a paid oneworld round the world business class fare?

Hi,

When flying through the US as part of a RTW Oneworld Business Points flight is there a way to get upgraded to First class as they have no business fare.

I noticed when you use the tool on the Oneworld sight if you were to purchase the ticket you get upgraded to first if there is no business fare on the flight.

On AA, “first” class is similar to business,  just newer planes and better cabin. I booked a multi leg on AA on business (you can’t choose specifically first class) . One leg was classed as first with the newer cabin the other leg on older 737 was business. Meals were similar. First class gives much better status credits

But to answer a question I don’t think it’s a problem booking “first” as it’s essentially business class.
