Is there a silver lining in the recent change to the Krisflyer - Velocity transfer rates?

Possibly more news than a question but I have just read that KrisFlyer are reducing their KF to Velocity transfer rates so that it now “costs” 1.55KF miles to transfer to one Velocity point.

The article (http://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/sg/ppsclub-krisflyer/use-miles/otherways-to-redeem-miles/) only mentions KF to VA but the accompanying KrisFlyer News (Oct-Nov 2018) seems to suggest a “vice versa” arrangement.

Not great news. Let’s hope the Flybuys to Velocity bonus in November is healthy and we can get all those points across to KrisFlyer before the change.

For the record the new KF to VA rates take effect from 1st Jan 2019.

Is it possible to transfer from one to the other and then do the reverse a few months later?

It’d  make sense to transfer to Krisflyer now and once velocity devalues back to Velocity to gain a net 15% in velocity points

It looks like the VA to KF transfer rate will be similarly reduced (How to transfer points between Velocity and KrisFlyer - Point Hacks)

So probably no value in this.
