I have accumulated Amex Points in the past 5 years, I usually used it for SQ Business Class redemption. I’ve never looked into hotel room redemption before. Just wondering is it worth considering transferring to Marriot Bonvoy? or Flight is definitely more valuable per point? Thank you
Using points for flights and hotel can be great value (cents per point). However, as the transfer rate from Amex to Marriott is poor, it is generally better value to use Amex points on premium flights.
However, how you use your points is completely up to you. You might not be able to fly internationally but have too many points in hand, so reducing your costs on hotels may be a good option. As always compare the points required via hotel point transfer with amex pts cashback (usually poor value) and gift cards via which ever transfer partner (usually poor value).
