Is it possible to redeem flight from SYD to HND on ANA using MileagePlus mile?
Whenever I search any flight between Asia and Australia, the site only shows Thai Airways and New Zealand Air. Does this mean that ANA, EVA, and Asiana are almost unvailable for awards or just because those need to be book via phone?
As ANA is one of United’s partner or alliance member, you should be able to book using MileagePlus Miles. With any loyalty program, if you can’t find it bookable via website and you believe you should be able to book if there are available seats, you have to ring them to book.
Not sure what the easiest way to search for ANA award seats but one method I used is to join ANA’s loyalty program.
Is the availability on ANA’s loyalty program is the same as the Star Alliance award for United? Now I found that there are almost available J class from now until early Sept. And after that there is no seat at all until up to May 2017. Is that because they release more seats when it comes closer to the departure date? Or they might have more seats when I ring them? Do you recommend good contact number for united?
I found Thai Airways has generous awards on United so if I cant redeem Ana, I can redeem first class to Vietnam or Thailand instead.
I know that United miles expire after 18 months, but as long as I use the miles, it will extend to another 18 months is that correct?
Availability is never 100% the same (IMO) but it depends whether it is very similar or drastically different. I don’t have specific experience unfortunately.
United’s contact number are as follows. I always prefer calling the loyalty program number (believing that it would have quicker response time).
Mileage accrued shall only be subject to expiration on the last day of the eighteen (18) months after the last account activity in the member’s account. Activity includes flying, using your MileagePlus credit card and more (see rule 10). In cases where mileage is for any reason removed from an account, such as for the redemption of awards, and later returned, the return of the mileage to the account shall not count as account activity.
Any member who fails at any time to engage in account activity for a period of eighteen (18) consecutive months is subject to termination of such member’s membership and/or forfeiture of all accrued mileage as of the last day of the 18th month. Activity includes (without limitation) earning flight miles on United or earning or redeeming miles with a MileagePlus partner (as defined in Rule 12), redeeming miles for award travel, buying miles or transferring miles.
