How late can I cancel my Amex Platinum Charge without incurring the annual fee?

Hi,

My platinum charge card anniversary date / approval date is 23 March 2017.

Based on last year’s statement, the annual fee was charged on 19 April 2017.

Could I continue to use the card after 23 March 2017, utilize the privileges eg Priority Pass; and cancel it once the annual fee charge appears on the transaction. What is the ultimate deadline to cancel the card?

My understanding is, once the fee posts on your statement, you have a further 30 days to cancel without paying the annual fee.
