How best to supplement Qantas Club for additional lounge access in USA and Canada?

Hi all. We are travelling to the USA & Canada for Xmas. I have basic Qantas Club Lounge membership that will allow me to take my wife & 16 YO child in. We have 2 older adult children (both QFF members…not Club) & 1 of their partners travelling with us also. Just wondering the best options to provide them with access without having to buy full memberships, as they are unlikely to use it. Once in the US we have a couple of internal flights with Delta & Westjet. Is there any program / credit card / membership that will allow all of us to access lounges ? Thanks in advance.

Hi @antkeain,
Welcome to the community! Firstly you could apply for a Qantas credit card that can provide you with complimentary lounge access here in Oz and overseas. You can then transfer them to your travel companions. Usually they can be limited in some major airports you might expect them to be valid in - I’m thinking LAX - Tom Bradley Terminal. But they may help with access to other lounges elsewhere, including Canada. Of course, applying for a credit card is not to be taken lightly and I have no knowledge of your financial circumstances etc… (ie. not financial advice :+1: ).

I know that some of the AMEX cards can get you into US Airline lounges, but I’ve not used them for a long time. Generally, you get X number of partner vouchers per year and sometimes there are fare restrictions too… can’t be flying on the cheapest economy ticket fare classes etc…

US Lounges can be fickle I’ve found. I once rocked up to the Delta Lounge at LAX Domestic Terminal expecting to waltz in with my 1st class ticket to another major US city and was promptly denied entrance! A bit embarrassing at the time. hahaha!

Also be aware that where lounge passes can be used often requires a flight number or codeshare flight number that matches the “program” of the lounge pass to be eligible. Another option could also be Priority Pass Membership.

Here are a few links that might help you with your research.
Best of luck!

Hi Jenart. Thanks so much for the advice. I will investigate these options…it’s hard to know where to start sometimes. Much appreciated. Cheers
