Expiring Emirates Skywards miles - do I need to take the flight before expiry date?

Hi,
I have around 80,000 Skywards miles that expire in June next year (I have a total of 225,000). My question is do I need to just book something with them by June or actually take the flight by June?

Hi,

I am going to hazard a guess and say that you have to redeem a flight by June 2017. Reason is, I don’t think they check where you source your points from when you actually fly.

Best to ring Skywards to confirm if you want to be certain.

Thanks, I thought as much. I was hoping to use the 225k odd points for a return to Europe at the end of next year, looks like i’ll be going to NZ in the next 6 months…

I will give them a call to check, and will update with the answer.
