Why can't I find award seats for JAL for Jan/Feb 2026?

Hi pees, I’ve been searching for JAL rewards flights for two months, and can’t find any for the entire period of Jan - Feb.

Last year I was able to get my pick of dates and class, but this round, nothing. Is there any news that I missed? I didn’t find anything on this forum regarding unavailable JAL reward flights.

You’re (almost) right. A search on Seats.aero reveals that the only JAL reward flights available via Qantas FF for Jan-Feb 2026 are as follows:

JAL774 MEL-NRT in Business class on January 7
JAL51 HND-SYD in Premium Economy on February 18, 24 and 25.

From experience, more reward seats do become available later in the year. If your heart is set on using Qantas points to fly JAL to/from Japan, it’s best to invest in something like seats.aero Pro and set up an alert, so if/when the seats become available, you’re the first to know.

How to efficiently search for reward seats

Hi there, I went back into Qantas rewards, and those flights don’t show up for me, either, maybe cause I’m a lower level. I’ll look into the app/site you suggested, buy not sure hot to get over the hurdle of not seeing the reward fligths.

I’m only QFF Bronze and, searching for the MEL-NRT flight, the seat shows up for me:

However, there’s only one seat available: when I do a search for 2 seats it doesn’t come up. You didn’t specify how many seats you’re after? Maybe that’s the issue on JAL51 as well.
