Why can't I find any award seats in early January 2025 for Hong Kong to Perth?

Hi,
I am trying to get 2 business class seats HKG -PER in Jan 25. Ideally flexible between the 3-6 Jan.

I am an Asia miles member and have been checking twice daily for awards to open up since Jan this year.

No seats have ever been made available in Jan 25 yet ( across all classes)

Is this a case of Cathay waiting to do an award drop late?
Their website says they do not have any block out periods for awards.

Anyone with experience on this would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I would start making backup plans if you haven’t already (if you must travel at that time).

Being a few days after New Years day, it’s likely that it’s still a relatively peak period for travel. No black out date (if true) doesn’t mean you are guaranteed award seats. Airlines may select to keep seats for sell during peak (profitable) periods.
