Which Star Alliance frequent flyer program should I link to the HSBC card?

Hi, we are looking at getting a HBSC credit card to fast track to gold. I am now looking for best airline to join for using the points.
Based on these criteria:
Ability to transfer points between adult family members (can’t do with KrisFlyer)
Ease of booking and upgrading using points (KrisFlyer is clunky on this).

Aeroplan is offering 50,000 bonus points if you choose them as the program for this card. They also have a family pooling feature so that might be a good choice?
