Where to transfer our Amex points to before Dec 15?

Good morning

We have over 2mil Amex points that we would like to use to travel from Australia to Europe next year. But because we will be travelling in Dec 2026, we can’t book tickets quite yet. And in the mean time I’m weary that depending on who we fly with, I don’t want to transfer after Dec 15th and lose out on the conversion rate changing!

We are hoping to get 3 business class seats return and from my research it seems Singapore will be the best option for this? But preferably, I would love to do Qatar as the flight duration’s sound more appealing.

So do I transfer to points just straight to Singapore? or should I transfer to Qantas or Velocity and then either book through them or transfer from them to another airline?

I am quite familiar with booking economy flights but business feels way out of my league haha

Would love to hear any thoughts! Thanks heaps

Hi,

Apologies for the late reply. I had issues with the website while travelling.

I concur that Singapore Airlines would likely be your best bet for 3 award seats on the same flight. You may get 1-2 seats on Qatar on saver award but will likely have to pay 2x the avios point for the third seat.

The “good” news if you are transferring to Singapore Airlines - Krisflyer is, they have already devalued last year so this “route” isn’t affected in this latest devaluation.

Thats ok, thanks for the reply now  We ended up keeping the points in AMEX. If I could just ask re booking flights on Singapore though?

In order to secure the “Saver” fare on Singapore, do I need to be booking the day that flight day gets released? We are hoping to fly on 16 December 2026 so should I be logging in on the morning of 26 December this year and that is my best chance?

I hope that makes sense!

Thanks again,

Hannah

I personally usually use this strategy. It is not a sure fire way to secure award tickets but it works for me 8 out of 10 times.

Best you do some dummy test searches to test the waters to get familiar with the release patterns and process.

Good luck!
