What is the definition of a stopover in the case of a Qantas oneworld RTW redemption?

Hi, my wife and I are proceeding with bookings on a Qantas oneworld Classic Reward Itinerary - Business Class.

I am concerned that I might have misunderstood how the maximum number of Stopovers (5) works. Specifically:

• We have book the following flights To Japan, and then onto JFK

Australia to Japan

Arrive Tokyo Narita (JL724) and spend a couple of days in Tokyo

Catch train from Nagoya and spend a couple of days in Nagoya

Depart Nagoya (JL200) with connection at Tokyo Haneda (JL6) to JFK

• We will spend a few days in JFK and then catch train to Washington DC spending 3 weeks with family there (main purpose of our trip)

Fly out of Washington DC Dulles to Dublin via Heathrow

My questions are:

Is the time in Japan 2 or 1 stopovers, and is the time in USA 2 or 1 stopovers

If I have to fix the Japan departure, to preserve available stopovers, will we be penalised by Qantas?

I am yet to book the departure flight from the USA, and might have to return to NYC to avoid the second stopover there, if it a second.

I hope that I have explained this well, and would appreciate advice

Many thanks

They will both count as one stopover. However, Narita to Nagoya and New York to Washington will count as surface segments towards your 16 segment total.

Thankyou djtech, much relieved
