I am currently short of 150 status credits to maintain my Gold status and have roughly 5 weeks left. Will need your expert guidance or suggestions from the community on how to retain the gold status with one round trip. Is it possible to buy tickets with velocity points in lieu of currency to get status credits. Appreciate any valuable pointers. Ciao/KN
Should have booked some round-trip economy flights to Hong Kong for double status credits during the promotion but I digress.
The cheapest way right now I think is to buy 2 round-trip economy to Hong Kong (~80 credits if transiting through Sydney or Melbourne) - they usually sell for about $500 round trip. If not I think business class to New Zealand round-trip will do the trick bringing in 160 credits in total although for $1600 or so.
You can use Velocity points in Points+Pay which you can earn status credits but is incredibly poor value. You cannot earn status credits on Reward flights where you have the fixed Velocity rate.
