What are my chances of finding award seats from California to Sydney in Jan 2024?

Is it unrealistic to think we will see redemption flights from either lax or sfo to Syd 12-15 jan 2024?

Not impossible but I would say very close to it. I would certainly be making alternative plans.

There are redemption flights but maybe not as helpful as you want it to be.

Delta’s flight from LAX to Sydney has space leaving on the 15th or 16th, but you’d need to have some AMEX points lying around to transfer to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club - that’d be around 45K per person.

Otherwise, with Virgin Australia Velocity, best I could see is leaving on the 6th or 7th.
