Velocity Family Pooling - how to combine points earned prior to pooling?

I have setup family pooling with Velocity rewards. Transfers only occur for points earned since the pooling was enabled. My family members have a few thousand points each from before enabling the pooling. So I am wondering if there is a strategy for mopping up these points, something like this:

Stop family pooling
Transfer 5000 points from my account to each family member.
Transfer all the points from the family members back to me
Enable family pooling again.

Sounds OK to me, the 5000 transfers is a common method and as far as the rules for pooling goes, I quote from the T&Cs

14.7 Once a Contributing Account has nominated a new Beneficiary Account, there are no restrictions on the number of times that Contributing Account may be added to, or removed from the Beneficiary Account.
