I’m finally ready for the big point drop! But, with Singapore Air no longer making the RTW bookings, which was a draw, I hoped for advice on whether to transfer hundreds of thousands of ANZ points to to Velocity (2:1) or Krisflyer (3:1) as it seems routes, partners and availability have shifted. Oh, there’s about equal chance I’d vacay in N.America as Asia, from Melbourne ¯_(ツ)_/¯ .
Unless you’re actively looking to close your ANZ account, it’s best to keep your ANZ points where they are for now. Then, when you find availability on the routes and dates you want, transfer the points into the programme with that availability.
You want to avoid the situation where you speculatively transfer your points into one programme only to find that the flights you want to book are via another.
Well, there are positives and negatives to both programmes. I’d probably lean towards Velocity because the transfer rate from ANZ is better and you’ll end up with more points. On top of that, Velocity points don’t have the 3-year hard expiry that KrisFlyer does.
On the other hand, KrisFlyer has a wider range of partner airlines, and also better availability on Singapore Airlines.
