This is my first time posting. I recently flew to Europe with Qatar Airways, and my travel agent asked for my frequent flyer program numbers. I provided both my Qantas and Virgin numbers. However, I just noticed that the points were transferred to Qantas instead of my preferred airline, Virgin. Is it possible to reverse the transfer and have the points moved to Virgin? I think it might have been a mistake to provide both frequent flyer numbers.
I don’t have personal experience in this but I would think that it would be next to impossible to get one airline to recall the points credited and another airline to cough up some points. Process-wise, it is likely not doable once a flight has been credited.
If a fault has been made, there might be room in asking for resolution. No fault in this case.
Actually this is easy to fix. First you need to write to Qantas or call them and ask to remove points credit from these flights. In my experience such requests are quickly processed.
After that claim those flights by logging into your account and clicking on Claim missing points. You should get the points within a couple of weeks.
But before you do that"
Check how many points you got for each flight with Qantas.
Check your booking class and estimate how many points you will get with Velocity.
Basically you need to decide which credit will give you better value.
With travel agents, you always need to give them instructions which programs you want your flights to be credited to and provide only your membership to the relevant program - saves a lot of time down the track.
Again in the future you can always check what membership is on your booking before you fly and ask the travel agent to make adjustment. Or you can ask the check-in person at the airport to do it for you.
