We’ve booked a trip to the USA using Classic Rewards points garnered thanks to the great advice here. ADL-MEL is with Jetstar landing at domestic terminal, MEL - LAX is Qantas Premium Economy obviously from International terminal, all on the one itinerary.
Do we check in with Jetstar in Adelaide, if so, will our luggage be checked all the way through to LAX or will we have to collect at Melbourne and re-check it with Qantas?
Or since this is a Qantas Classic Rewards booking, do we just front the Qantas Premium Economy counter at Adelaide with our luggage?
You always check-in with the operating carrier; if your flight from Adelaide to Melbourne is with Jetstar, you’d be checking in with them. Regardless of the fact that it is one ticket however you will need to reclaim your bags in Melbourne and transfer them to the Qantas desk as you’re going from a domestic to an international flight.
The desk in Adelaide should be able to issue your boarding passes and check you all the way through, so in Melbourne once you transfer your bags you won’t need to re-check in at international departures - you’ll just head straight through security and immigration.
