Qantas Business class from Melbourne to New York - how early are award seats available?

Hi everyone,
I’ve been doing some dummy booking for MEL-JFK. I can’t seem to get business seats on Qantas in 353 days time or a few days prior but I can get on Cathay but for a 30k point premium. Do Qantas not release business seats this far prior to flights?

You’ll need gold of platinum status with QF to see J class seats that early. They reserve them for status pax.
