[Personal share] ANZ Frequent Flyer Qantas Card cooling period now 24 months

I was just looking at cycling through an ANZ qantas card and checked the T&C to see if they’d recently changed, and to my horror I saw the following:

“You are not eligible for this offer if you currently hold or have held an ANZ Frequent Flyer or ANZ Rewards credit card in the last 24 months.”

Absolutely disgusting…

Hi @ollie

Wow, it doesn’t take much to disgust you!

This is part of an annoying and, to point hackers, inconvenient trend by almost all banks and credit card issuers to extend their exclusion periods. You can read more about it, including the ANZ changes, in the article below.

Thanks for the link.

From that link, it mentions Westpac, plus the 3-St George banks. Are all 4 now treated as one? OR is it still Westpac on one lockout cycle and the 3-St George banks on a 2nd lockout cycle, as I have always experienced thus far?

Westpac also recently extended its offer exclusion period from 12 to 24 months

The same 24-month exclusion period applies to St.George, Bank of Melbourne and Bank SA customers. All three of those banks are owned by Westpac and offer the same credit card products as each other.

Hi @ollie

My understanding is that Westpac is still separate from St George/BankSA/BOM for exclusion period purposes.

“The same 24-month exclusion period” means that the two ecosystems each have 24-month exclusion periods, not that they’re now the same ecosystem.
