I’ve searched online and also just called Velocity FF. I haven’t found any information about what happens on October 1st 2025 if you don’t have enough SCs to be awarded Forever Gold. In other words is it a once-off offer or is there the opportunity to become eligible as you earn SCs after October 1st. If it’s a once-off offer, it seems grossly unfair, particularly since the person I spoke to had no idea when members would be able to find out how many SCs they have earnt since 2013 as it requires a software update.
Hello and welcome @frankf2048 !
It’s not a one-off offer (even though I don’t follow your logic that it would be “grossly unfair” if it were!). If you don’t have enough SC’s as of October 1, you’ll be awarded Forever Gold when you do.
My understanding is that on or sometime after October 1, there will be the opportunity to look up how many total SCs you have and how far away you are from attaining FG.
Thank you @sixtyeight!
I’ve only just seen your msg. Earlier today I booked a flight with another carrier for a saving of $700 having decided that I will probably be well short of the 9000 SCs from VA flights by October. The lack of any information about what happens on 1 October for loyal fliers who don’t meet the criteria made my decision. VA must know what they plan to do then so why didn’t they make it clear at the launch? I’ll be very angry if I find out that I was close to achieving Forever Gold and paying an extra $700 would have gotten me over the line. Achieving Forever Gold is a huge benefit for any flyer. It means never having to bother with SCs and maintaining status again, enabling you to always pay the lowest fare, saving money in the long run. As far as I’m concerned the launch has been a fiasco - lots of negatives from the new system and a vague promise of a potential reward
