Hello, I need to renew my car insurance. Qantas insurance is $90 more expensive per year and would give me 5592 frequent flyer points. Is that a good value? Or better go with the cheaper insurance and no points? Thanks for your advice
If you take the Qantas insurance, that means you are valuing 5592 points at $90 or 1.6 cents per point. Of course, this doesn’t take into account the second-year rate increase that will inevitably come and that might be way higher than a comparative insurance company. Take a look at what you want to redeem your points for or better yet, what you have redeemed them for in the past and then calculate the price of your points from there to see if its worth it to you.
