Is it possible to book Cathay using Alaska miles from Brisbane to Hong Kong then to the Middle East?

Are you able to book Cathay using Alaska miles Brisbane -Hong Kong then to the Middle East with a stop over in Hong Kong, on a one-way redemption.

Hi Allan,

You can only book flights that fit within the categories on their award chart (https://www.alaskaair.com/content/mileage-plan/award-chart/award-chart-australia.aspx).

In terms of Cathay, you can see on the chart there is a category from Aust > Hong Kong, but no category from Aust > Middle East in a single redemption. You would need to make two separate redemptions:

  1. Aust > Hong Kong (30,000 miles)
  2. Hong Kong > Middle East (22,500 miles).
This would be a total of 52,500 miles and would allow you to stopover in Hong Kong for as long as you like.

 

You can make one-way redemptions on Alaska with no issues.
