How to redeem oneworld alliance member (JAL or Cathay) flights with Qantas points?

I have enough Qantas points to book a J award flight back from Europe to North Asia next year. I am ok with leaving or arriving at various airports and have been searching the Qantas rewards bookings for suitable redemptions.
Most of the options which are available are either on Emirates or British Airways. I would prefer Cathay or JAL for example as the taxes will be less but they don’t show up as available.

My best preference would be from Anywhere in Northern Europe to Beijing via Hong Kong on Cathay J or any direct J flight from Northern Europe to Beijing.

Can these be booked by calling Qantas or are they just not available if they can’t be found on the Qantas booking site.

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Cathay Pacific flights are shown on Qantas award searches. JAL isn’t. I have read that they will be in the near future.

Try using the “multi-city” function when you search.
