How to purchase Alaska Miles if I don't have a credit card with a US billing address?

Hi Guys

After the recent bonus promotion of Alaska Air miles I registered with the intent of purchasing some miles for a future flight.

Alaska Air has told me however that you can only purchase Alaska Air miles with a credit card with a US billing address.  If others have purchased miles before, how do you get around this and get a credit card with a US billing address?

My wife and I have been Alaska plan members for some years.

I have had no difficulty buying flights and points with my 28 Degrees MasterCard.

We have a current award booking on Cathay Pacific flying to USA in September with a stopover in Hong Kong, bought with Alaska points.

Thanks Ian, that is interesting to know.  If and when they bring back their bonus points with purchase I will see how it goes then.
