HI All,
does anyone have any advice on how best to return from Singapore to Aus late Jan 2026.
Plenty of outbound availability on multiple carriers.
I know it is peak season for return travel but any advice on rewards seats, connecting cities??
Welcome @tigecapaldo,
Yes, it is a very peak time of year, as all the families are returning from their overeas holidays just in time to start the kiddies back at school for the new year. Couple that with the Australia Day long weekend trippers, you’re definitely looking for a needle in a haystack.
Without knowing which Aussie city is your home base, how many people you’re looking to book for and which Airline FF Program you have points with, it’s a little hard to know for sure what to recommend. But hopefully the following tips will help you out:
- Direct flights from SIN to your home city will be rare. BNE, SYD, MEL are out of the question. ADL and PER are posibilities.
- If you find any reward seats into ANY Australian capital cities, jump on that and then look for a domestic reward to your home city.
- Look for multi leg options from SIN to either your home city OR an alternate Aussie city, with a local domestic leg on the end. This could end up being 2-3 sectors, but it can mean getting home on points vs paying cash only.
- Many times, booking a multi leg reward journey, eg: SING - KUL - ADL - MEL will open up additional reward flights that do not show up on their own if you’re searching for direct reward seats only. There are all sorts of quirks in flight search engines that will pair flight sectors like this.
- Look for other cities you could hop to from Singapore around the SE Asia area to see if you can jag a rewards seat back into Oz - Thailand, Vietnam, Philipines, Indonesia, Hong Kong even.
Basically you will have to spend a truckload of time searching these routes to find that elusive route that will get you home.
