Hi, looking for the best options in using qantas points to get to vancouver from sydney. i have plenty of qantas points and looking to use them or potentially use points for an upgrade on air Canada?

Air Canada is not a Qantas FF partner, so you won’t be able to use your points with them. FF award seats to North America are not at all easy to find, especially if you want to fly in a premium seat (ie. Premium Economy, Business or First). This Point Hacks guide covers everything you need to know.
If you can’t find availability, consider flying via Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific, or even via Japan on JAL.
