I’m looking for some advice on paying off a tax bill of around $7,000 in a way that helps me earn points. I’ve heard that I can use Woolworths Rewards cards for this, but I’m not entirely clear on how it works. I also have an Amex Platinum Edge credit card. If you could explain how to go about this, I’d really appreciate it.
Hi @jtso6123,
You’re in luck, @BrandonLoo just posted this article a few weeks ago:
…and this AMEX Guide last week:
Best of luck!
So, am I right in saying that I would effectively need to purchase 12 or so $500 visa gift cards from Woolworths and individually use one after another to pay off the balance? I did hear that Woolworths has a limit on the amount you can purchase ??

I believe so…
- Fixed Denomination Cards ($50 or $100): Up to five cards per day.
- Variable Load Cards ($25–$500): Up to two cards per day.
Best to always check the T&C’s etc…
I’ve browsed the Woolworths website and I cannot locate the Visa gift card. Can someone point me in the right direction or provide me the specific name of the card that will allow me to make payment to the ATO
From the relevant article:
Popular prepaid Mastercard and Visa gift cards sold in Australia include the Coles Mastercard gift card and the Vanilla Visa gift card. These can be used at the ATO.
I’m not sure of the mechanics of this method, as I’ve not used it myself, but I’d imagine, that given it’s a physical “visa card”, you would need to go in-store to make the purchase. (I might be wrong though).
Hope that helps.
