Just trying to find out how to actually book Japan Airlines flights using Qantas points, when the flights are not listed on the Qantas site. I have confirmed that award seats seem to be available by using other program booking sites, but cannot book using those sites as I only have Qantas points?

You have to call Qantas to book these flights as its not bookable online.
There will also be a charge “Award Assistance Fee” 6000 points per passenger or $60 per passenger which is quite expensive!
Try to mention this is not bookable online and they may waive it. Worked for me before.
