How does Alaska Mileage Plan's free stopover work?

Hi all,
I am hoping to fly Bris -Hong Kong by redeeming Alaska Miles. I’m aware that Alaskan offer a free stopover on a one way ticket. Does anyone know what stopover could be included in this itinerary? ie could you add on an Asian side trip, or does it work better if I did HK - Bris (as a stop over)- Perth (6 months later) to effectively get an extra free flight?

Interested to hear any tips or suggestions!

That is an interesting question. I’m not terribly sure whether you could do HKG–BNE (stopover) - PER.

Have a read on this article and see whether there are any helpful points.

I would probably try it out with multi-city search on Alaska award search. It would probably only work with single partner airlines (Qantas-Qantas).

If anyone else have something more helpful to add, please do.
