How do you combine an award flight and paid flight in one itinerary?

I can find reward flights Sydney-Johannesburg, but need to pay for flights Johannesburg to Cape Town. How do I do this in one booking on the Qantas website?

Hi,

I don’t think you can mix award flight and a cash/revenue flight. I.e. has to be separate itinerary so you are not protected for flight cancellation/delays; you are on your own if you miss the second flight, so allow a reasonable buffer between the flights.

Yes @w.hiew is correct. The only way you can combine the two is if you book a points+pay booking which will cost an astronomical amount of points!
