I was wondering if there was anyway of using the QFF status to gain entry to lounges but then crediting the flight to a different Oneworld airline such as Airberlin top bonus? Almost none of my flight in Europe accrue any status or points!
You’ve a few options - simple and complex.
Simple: include your alternative FF# in the booking. Show up at the airport and flash your Qantas card to gain you access to priority check in, lounge etc. If anyone asks why your Qantas account is not in your booking, explain why, but ask they don’t change it back.
Outcome: you’ll earn points and status with the alternative program. You should get status benefits - but you won’t get any status recognition for seat allocation or operational upgrade chances.
Simple 2: Put your Qantas FF# in the booking from the time of booking. Use it to access seat, status, priority check in and lounge access. Ask the lounge host to change your booking to your other frequent flyer number when you arrive in the lounge before the flight.
Outcome: You’ll get all the above plus the status recognition in your booking. You will have to ensure the check in or lounge staff do not change your FF number back to your Qantas FF number at any point.
Complex: call the operating airline and explain you want to see if they can put two frequent flyer numbers in the booking - one for points accrual, one for status. Many airlines will allow this, but you have to be really clear about what you’re asking for. It may take some time to explain.
Outcome: You’ll get all the above plus the status recognition in your booking. You will have to ensure the check in or lounge staff do not change any FF numbers in the booking as you make your way through the airport.
