When cashing in points to redeem flights, it is often quite alarming how much some carriers slug you in fees and charges. For example, a one way flight in business class from Dubai to London costs 50,000 QF points and about $550 in fees and charges. A one way business class flight from Darwin to Melbourne costs 36,000 QF points plus $94 in fees and charges, which is almost one third the cost of an economy class ticket. Yet when booking the very same Qantas flights using AA points, the fees are a lot less. Has anyone done a table comparing the fees and charges using the most popular frequent flyer programs on the most popular routes?
