Do these Qantas RTW Classic Rewards booking/change fees look right?

I’ve just secured 3 flights as part of my Classic Rewards points RTW trip. As per on-line advice, I phoned Qantas to manually add the second and third legs of the 3-month trip (more legs still to come). Qantas has charged me a 5000 points reward change booking fee for each of the 2nd and 3rd flights (I think is correct); but also a 7700 QFF points International Reward Assistance Fee for each of the 2nd and 3rd flights. Is this right? So 12,700 QFF points every time I add a flight via a Qantas agent? - thanks - Graham H, Adelaide

Hi @1Hirizer1,
Yes, that sounds about right to me. Unless there is an error while booking on Qantas’ website, or a flight cancellation/change that is beyond your control, you will pay both these “fees”.

Disclaimer - I’ve never booked a RTW trip - using either points or cash.

For a RTW trip the best idea would be to book as much of the itinerary as you can, knowing that you need to minimise the number of changes after the fact. Kinda hard really when plans do change, and perhaps you are locking in the first 2/3rds of your trip while the seats are available, with a plan to add the remaining flights later. Not to mention (I believe) that you can ONLY change an existing RTW booking by phoning up and speaking to a human! It’s a Catch-22! :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Best of luck

There is a $77 fee per booking charged for assisted international booking. Hopefully, you don’t have to pay that for subsequent changes. They might have charged the 7700 points instead of $77.

You shouldn’t be paying the $77 / 7700 fee, this is only if something is bookable online but you do it by phone. I made many changes to my RTW last year and was never charged it.

Good luck trying to get it refunded tho
