I will be moving to Hong Kong for 6 months next week and will be travelling around Asia for work, travelling with Cathay Pacific. At the end of my time in HK, I intend to fly to London and then return to Sydney using miles. I already have miles with a Qantas Frequent Flyers, I do not have a CP points account yet.
During my time in Asia and when travelling with Cathay Pacific, is it better to collect CP air miles into a CP frequent flyer account or get the miles attributed to my Qantas FF account?
It depends on how much points CX and QF offer for your CX flights. As some cheaper fares earn at different rate depending on which program you credit to.
1 QFF compared to 1 Asia Mile-> I believe it cost less Asia Miles in general to redeem for most one World routes.
Really depends on how you wish to use those points/miles in the future.
The main aim is to maximise the earning of my points when traveling around Asia with the intention of using those points to get me from HK to London, London to HK and then HK to Sydney.

Since you are flying in business, the points you get through Qantas varies by zones/routes. Not knowing which routes you are flying, you are best to check how many Qantas points you get for your CX flights here
Crediting to Asia Miles earns you 125% (Business) of the flown miles.
Hong Kong-London return on business costs 120k AM or 184k QFF to redeem.
Not sure how status points come into play too between the 2 programs.
