Can you make multiple TRS claims at one time and can you be using the items or do they have to be packaged?
E.g. if I buy a new backpack and use it for the flight and buy a new set of headphones on a a different day and from a different shop, can I claim both?

Yes, you can do this, as long as you meet all the other TRS rules such as bringing them on the flight with you, etc. You also need to ensure that you have paid more than $300 to each supplier. You can’t make up the $300 from a combination of suppliers.
Yes, you can be using the items, as long as they are sighted by a TRS agent .
