Brisbane to Italy - best use of qantas points?

Hi all

Planning on going to Italy around October -December this year for our honeymoon. We currently have 315000 qantas points and was wondering what the best value way to use these points?

Hi Matt,

To Milan:

From Brisbane, it costs 312k QFF for 4 one-ways in Economy class via Dubai (Emirates) and Hong Kong (Cathay).

From Brisbane, it costs 304k QFF for 2 one-ways in Business class via Dubai (Emirates) and Hong Kong (Cathay).

From Hong Kong, it costs 184k QFF or 2 one-ways in Business class via Dubai (Emirates), Hong Kong (Cathay), Helsinki (Finnair), Doha (Qatar) .

Emirates redemption through Qantas generally costs more in tax/surcharge than Cathay redemption.

Best to play with the Qantas Classic award search to check availability. Consider flying into other EU airports to increase your chances of getting award space too.

Thanks for your help. We ended up getting some extra points so ended up booking business class both ways with Emirates between Brisbane (via sydney) and Dubai (384k points in total) in late November/December - going economy for the shorter leg (Dubai to Rome). Return flights ended up being $4.8k for both of us - not bad considering business class flights were going for 15k+ with emirates!
