Best ways to book flights with Virgin and their partner South African Airlines using Velocity points?

Hi there, I am trying to get a one way flight from Sydney to Johannesburg aroudn April 2018 which would be something like Virgin FF from Sydney to Perth and partner SAA from Perth to Johannesburg. When I enter the Sydney to JNB details into the Velocity website it offers flights via Singapore which is not my preference. Has anyone had experience using Velocity FF points for a Virgin / SAA combination flight and any suggestions as to how I shoudl book this?

Doing the search on Virgin’s site, there are direct flights from PER to JNB on SAA but not reward seats. It appears the only partner airline with reward seats is Singapore Airlines. You could try phoning VA for assistance, best of luck.
