I spent my last few months reading the guides and collecting all the points I could, to get ready for this trip and I need some advises.
As per title, I need to go to Italy (Northern part, Venice preferred or Milan) at the end of August 2017, the idea is leaving between the 24th and the 26th of August and coming back before the 25th of September.
Unfortunately my dates are not really flexible as I would love to maximise my AL.
I have atm 145000 Qantas FF points.
If is not gone, I can book the return flight, through the Qantas classic reward program, for Sept 22nd (economy only), but there are no options in August to fly there.
Does anyone have an idea or a different itinerary to recommend to reach Venice using Qantas FF for that period?
I don’t mind stopping over for 1 day or so on the way.

For the dates that you want to travel on, I could not find much for PER-Rome. I have far better luck with PER-Zurich. AFAIK, it takes just a bit longer to get from Zurich to Milan compared to Rome to Milan.
It costs 110k Qantas points + $500++ in economy for 1 person (flying with Emirates).
As August is still peak period you’re leaving it very late for awards bookings. Most awards seats are already taken. As w hiew suggests you could try to enter somewhere else in Europe and connect to northern Italy.
However you should book ASAP as even cash seats would have limited availability
Thanks guys, I know it was a bit late but I had to wait my Company to approve my AL.
I booked a flight Perth - Munich for the 25th (Business class was also available for the 2nd flight), and I’m going back the 22nd from Venice (economy).
130k + $650 , as first time I’m pretty happy!!! Still 50% less than the normal fare + 1 flight in Business (A380).
Zurich was also a very good option, Munich is just a bit closer to my destination!
