Any ideas on how to use points and maximise value to get to Miami in First Class?

I’d like to thank you, Keith, for this website and the information you and others generously share. Because of this I was recently able to experience Etihad First Class from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi and it was truly a fantastic experience. I then went onto Europe in Emirates and returned in Etihad business. The one blemish was Etihad not providing pjs on the overnight Abu Dhabi to Perth leg. Apparently it was too short…despite being 10 hours…

Next year I have a trip planned for Miami. I’m open to ideas…and new challenges.

Having tried first on Qantas, Etihad and Emirates, I’m thinking of trying something different…maybe Cathay or Singapore? Or perhaps Air France or Lufthansa…I’ve read awesome reviews about both those airlines’ first class.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. I belong to the usual programs: American, Avianca, Qantas, Virgin, Singapore etc…

LLO,

Thanks for sharing your success story.

You could try the following:

Via American, MEL-DOH-MIA on Qatar Air for 220k return

Via Asiana, MEL-DOH-MIA on Qatar Air for 220k return

If you had a lot of time, you could consider the following:

For 360k Krisflyer, you could do a round the world on Star Alliance. SYD-SIN (SQ Suites), SIN-FRA (SQ Suites), FRA-JFK (Lufthansa), JFK-Tokyo (ANA), Tokyo-SYD (ANA). You get to try 2 of the 4 products.

However, you would have to take intra-USA flights from JFK to Miami and reposition from MEL-SYD to try SQ suites.

Cathay is part of One World and Air France is part of SkyTeam so would not work economically. If you have all the point in the world, you could do, MEL (CX) - HKG (CX) - FRA (LH) - JFK (AF) - CDG (SQ) - SIN (SQ) - SYD. You get to try all 4 products.

I have heard many good things about first class products from the 4 airlines you mentioned and Qatar Air.

Keep us up to date of your final decision.
