Any advice for booking reward flight to London for 2018 Christmas?

I’m looking to book a QFF reward flight to London in business in late Dec 2018 for Christmas next year (ideally last Friday before Christmas).

This is going to be peak of the peak, peak season.

My partner will book it for me as has Gold tier status. I’ll be travelling alone and we already have the points.

Does reward availability open up month by month or day by day? Any advice to secure the flight?

Reward availability opens on a daily basis but remember on Qantas, Cathay and BA the seats are not available until 353 days beforehand.  This means you will need to wait until mid January 2018 to search and book.

I suggest flying to London via Hong Kong or Japan for the best availability of seats.
