Hi all
I don’t know if this has been posted before but I was recenty looking to redeem points for a economy trip from Australia to Europe.
A one way ticket Melbourne to London on Singapore Airlines is 10,504 miles distance which requires 80k velocity points.
But this does not give a stopover. A return ticket which is twice the above will give 1 stopover in Singapore.
Now here is the hack. If you book the MEL-SIN and SIN - LHR segments separately the distances are 3743 and 6739 miles which separately require 29,000 + 50,000 = 79,000 miles total. You have saved 1000 points!
So now you can save 1000 points each way and have a stopover in Singapore going to London and another coming back. You will arrive more rested and your Velocity balance will thank you.
cheers Peter
