[Personal Share] Emirates 1st Class and Qantas Silver Status

Hey All,
Just wondering how people are going in general with booking Emirates 1st class reward flights now that the minimum required Qantas FF Status is Silver?
I’ve only ever been Bronze, which has served me well, but now I need to start chasing Silver.

Do most people on here who are booking Emirates 1st have Silver or higher status, so it’s not actually a problem? Or have you also had to rethink your strategies and look to chase the status credits in preparation for planning a big trip at the pointy end of the plane?

Also, another consideration (which further adds to the planning logistics and cost - points and $'s) is the massive points requirement increase since last year for Emirates classic reward seats - there were 2 of them @ around 20% each time!! As an example, in the past, my wife and I have flown return from Perth - Frankfurt - Maldives - Perth in Emirates 1st for around 950,000pts and taxes in the AUD$5,500-$6,000 range. I am looking to plan our next big trip for next year from Perth - Lisbon - Maldives - Perth in Emirates 1st class, and we are looking at approx. 1,614,000pts with taxes of approx. $9,139. These are massive increases! More than 50% extra points.

So, I’m just wondering how others are dealing with these challenges?
Thanks

I happened to make a few extra flights this year which got me to silver for the first time without actually trying so that will come in handy when we try to book emirates first class for euro summer next year

Ooooo nice one!!
I’ve been researching the best routes I could fly from Perth to optimise the most status points for reaching silver - based on cost vs class vs number of flights etc… Will keep an eye out for double status bonuses as well.
