Hi hackers!
I’m trying to help my sister get 2 x return business class to Europe in June next year.
She has been collecting Citibank points (I’m not sure what card she has or how many points she has).
When factoring in the most available seats, points redemption rates and other ways to earn points (eg. Through KrisFlyer app, or through Flybuys), what points scheme should she transfer to? Is it only between KrisFlyers and Velocity?
Also, I saw a post on this forum from 2024 saying Velocity do bonus transfers throughout the year for CitiBank points - do they still do that?
Thanks in advance for your help!!!
Marisa
Hi there,
The type of Citibank credit card matters as the transfer rate differs for some.
Yes, Velocity does bonus transfer promotions a few times a year. Our guide to Velocity transfer bonus offers [2024] - Point Hacks
So, sometimes it is worth waiting for. However, June 2026 is open for booking so it is a debate between waiting for promotion so you get more from transfer vs securing award seats now instead of waiting and risk losing award seats.
Krisflyer generally sees more award seats compared to Velocity for Singapore Airlines but you generally need more Citibank points to get Krisflyer points.
One way is to wait for transfer bonus to transfer to Velocity then transfer to Krisflyer. Again, you will need to work out whether this nett you more Krisflyer miles vs transferring directly from Citibank points to Krisflyer miles.
Lots of info there so if anything is unclear please ask.
