Good Afternoon
We have a lot of Amex points that we want to use to travel from Perth to Europe for Christmas 2026. It will be 2 adults and a 7yo. We want to book Business Class for us all return and believe we should have enough points to do so.
Can someone please advise when we should be able to book the flights? I’m assuming it won’t be until January or February 2026?
Times prior we have flown Qatar but we are open to other airlines and whatever program will get us the most value for points.
Thanks heaps
Welcome @hannah.gaffney !
Be aware that Christmas is the peak-est of peak periods and that even at the best of times the vast majority of airlines only release two Business Class award seats per flight. So getting “the most value for points” is the least of your problems. Getting the seats at all will be the huge challenge.
My initial thinking is that the only chance you have for three Business Class seats on the same flight is on Singapore Airlines, which is the airline that most consistently releases the most reward seats to/from Australia. They release award seats at about the 360-day mark so if, say, you want to fly on December 15, you’ll be looking to book on or about December 20.
Qatar, likewise, releases seats about 360 days before the flight but you’re highly unlikely to find availability for three people on the same flight.
To make things marginally easier, you might like to consider splitting flights so there are two of you on one flight, and one on a separate flight. Alternatively, you could fly Economy out of Australia and then look for Business Class flights out of some of the cities such as KL, Bangkok, Manila etc which tend to have more availability.
Let us know how you go!
